Shostakovich’s 8th Quartet at Cannon Music Camp!

This recording is from 2025’s Cannon Music Camp at Appalachian State University. I had a great three weeks there, and I was very fortunate to play in Cannon’s Honors String Quartet. In this video, we performed Dmitri Shostakovich’s monumental String Quartet No. 8, a true modern classic of the string quartet repertoire. We performed this abridged version in the first week of the camp, playing the first, second, and fifth movements. This features Cooper Parsons, myself, Claire Arnold, and Joshua Hall, under the coaching of Professor of Viola and Violin and String Area Coordinator, Dr. Eric Koontz. Enjoy!
